We are glad to have Prof. He Lin from the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences & Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) visit us, and give the seminar on “Recent advances in pair distribution function analysis”. Based on the synchrotron and neutron total scattering data, atomic pair distribution function (PDF) analysis enables interpretation of the local atomic structures of disordered, nanostructured and amorphous materials. A detailed description of PDF can be found here. The capability to pinpoint the local structures allows for rigorous determination of new phase structures, understanding of short-range ordering, and correlated structure–property correlations, paving the way towards atomic manufacturing.
